Last day/5k/4th of July

Today is my last day of work before my sabbatical.

I'm excited. So very excited.

It's raining today - which I love. Love, love, love the rain. We've needed it so badly with all these fires around the state. Hope this helps put out the Alpine fire that started on Tuesday.

Yesterday was the 4th of July. I went to bed at 12:30am and got up at 4:20am to run the Freedom 5k Run in Provo. Darlene, Sharon, Brianna and Sean all signed up - except Darlene had to back out at the last minute. Her and Quinn had other plans. So, Kalin said he would run it with me. And I'm sure glad he did! He was such a good running partner/coach; pushing me to keep going and not stop. We ran that 1st mile in 11+ minutes, a first for me. It was a hard 5k - too many uphills. The last mile was up 900 East...all uphill and ended at Kiwanis park.

It was hard, but it was fun, but it also got me thinking that I may re-consider doing longer races. I think 5k's are good for me for now. Once I can get rid of this extra weight I may look at doing those longer ones. It's just too hard on my body right now.

Here are some pictures from the race...

Hot air balloon that I wanted to see...but had to get going to the race...
A sea of runner in front of us...and even more behind us (didn't get that shot)

Me, Sharon & Kalin stretching before the start.

Me & Kalin...just about to start!

...and we're done! We did it!!!
It was much harder to run this one, than my last 5k. Probably because it was flat, no momentum to push you like running downhill, and the last mile was a hill...a lengthy hill. It was hard. My final time was 47.11
Not the best but I have to be happy with that.
It was only 5 minutes longer than my last one, and again, this one was much harder. But I had fun!

One of the reasons for running the race was to get this hunk of medal. I love it!

After the race I went home, slept for a few hours, was grouchy to Ryan due to my lack of sleep and just not feeling the best. Poor guy. Lack of sleep does that to me. Don't know how I'm ever going to be a mom. lol!
After my grouchiness wore off a tad we went and saw Spiderman - soo good!

Then it was to the Parentals house for Magelby's French toast with Sugar Free Magelby's syrup.
HOLY YUM!!
Definitely different than our normal bbq, but it was good nontheless. :)

Uncle Ryan (my Ryan) said something funny, so little Ryan (Caiti's 8 year old) said "he's funny, I want to be like him." We didn't realize he meant literally wanted to be like him...lol! So funny that boy!

Hanging out on the front lawn getting ready to start the festivities

I love the 4th. I love my family. I love my Ryan. I love that I only have an hour or so left of work for 6 weeks. I love life. I love the rain today. :)
