Before and...during

Here is a before and during shot. I can't say the second picture there is an "after" shot because my journey isn't over. I'm not yet where I want to be but boy...this helps me want to keep going, and it makes me realize how far I have come.

I'm happy.

And since I'm feeling happy I'm going to post something that I have always been embarrassed about, but now I feel empowered.

At the beginning this journey, in July 2011, I tipped the scale at 316 lbs. 50 +% body fat.

Today I weigh 269 and am down to 31.8% body fat.

Total loss so far... 47lbs. Big difference.

Best of all...my blood sugar is normal and I'm not on my Diabetes meds anymore. Hallelujah!

My goal is to be at 25% body fat, and I'd like to be at 195 lbs. which is perfect for me, being 6ft tall and all.

Do-able right? Totally!!

C25K

On Monday my battle buddy, Brea, and I started our Couch to 5k training. Wow, did it feel amazing! We started out walking at a slowish speed of 3.4 for 5 minutes. Then when the time came we bumped it up to jogging at a 4.5 speed. When I jog I tend to really just jog, and jog slowly, almost like i'm hardly lifting my feet. I remember when Sharon and I did a 5k last year for my birthday she told me, "you gotta pick up your feet, and run". And she was right.

jogging at that level felt awesome! I felt like I could keep going. I was sweating but felt so happy running.

My legs hurt yesterday and today, you know, the good hurt after a good workout. I love it!

On to another topic. Have you seen the documentary on Netflix called 'Forks over knives'? It's really good. It's so amazing to me to be where I am now after all the crap I put my body through with eating whatever I wanted to eat; cookies, cake, soda...lots of soda, hamburgers, hotdogs, fried food, etc, etc, etc.

They talk about how a vegetable and grain based diet limit heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc. I love that I watch it and think, "yeah, it's so true...I've seen it in my own life".   I eat the veggies and grains, and limit my meat intake significantly. Wow! I love eating healthy! I love knowing that I'm doing my body good. I love it and want to preach it to everyone!

Now let's keep it going, and continue exercising!!

New Year

Wow! Can't believe we're already in 2012. Amazing. I got all our Christmas decor put away the day before the New Year. No better way to start it then being in a freshly cleaned house. Ahhh...my favorite. I have to say that I'm very blessed to have a very clean husband who doesn't like clutter..even though at times I get annoyed when he says the kitchen is a "mess" when there is only 1 dish in the sink...I'm still grateful his likes things clean...because I like things clean...even though I'm not always first to jump on the cleaning wagon.

Anyway, so it's 2012. Can I tell you how excited I am for this year? I feel so excited to make this year the best ever. And I really mean that. I know I say every New Year how I have my resolution to lose weight, "and this is my year..." blah, blah, blah...but this year really is different.

It's different because I'm not starting off the year trying to lose weight...I already started that during the summer and have kept going. I'm not starting off the year thinking of what fad diet I can do, I've got that down with my healthier lifestyle. What I'm looking forward to this year is me...becoming ME. Inside this outer shell of mine is someone who has wanted to do so much but always felt restricted because of her weight...but not now...NOT NOW!

I have specific goals this year. I have my battle buddy, Brea, to help me achieve these goals and complete them with me. I have more confidence and just feel so much better. I feel healthy, I feel happy, I feel like I can do anything...and I CAN, AND I WILL.

Some thing I'm looking forward to are...
-Thanksgiving Point 5k
-Freedom 10k run
-Dirty Dash 5k
-Halloween 1/2 Marathon
-Provo 1/2 Marathon (maybe, as long as I have enough training)
-Red Riding Hood Ride
-Santa 5k Run

There may be more that I'll sign up for but for now those are the things that I'd like to do this year.

Now, I'm not a runner...never have been. But I have ALWAYS wanted to run. I have dreams about it. I really feel like the sky is the limit this year and I'm soooo looking forward to it, to continue on my healthy journey, and to finally be the ME I have always wanted to be and the ME that has always been inside of me.

HAPPY 2012!
